Community Assistance & Recovery Efforts
Through our C.A.R.E. program we offer support to individuals and families that focus on caring, comfort, dignity, hope, resiliency and sustainability. We work together with other community members, groups and organizations to bridge gaps with critical needs and create a unified ("neighbor helping neighbor") network of support. Our "Care" kits have been the largest contribution of the C.A.R.E. Program thus far. The kits include basic personal hygiene products, first aid items and socks, however, other items are incorporated into the kits depending on our inventory and who the recipient will be. We utilize handmade bags (which are donated from individuals within the community) and reusable bags to package each kit. Distribution has gone to the following recipients to date; school districts for homeless/foster children, homeless shelters, addiction recovery treatment centers, food pantries, and for disaster relief/recovery efforts.
The Covid-19 Pandemic has been an on-going mission since March 2020. In the beginning of the pandemic, IAE Foundation collaborated with Delaware County Emergency Services and Department of Human Services by assisting with donation management and distribution. The Delaware County community members were eager to help and donations of masks, gloves, cleaning supplies and much more were collected. IAE members started making homemade hand sanitizer for frontline workers, homeless shelters, long-term care facilities and to be utilized in our Care kits.
Along with the Department of Human Services, we started the Helping Babies Bellies & Bottoms project. DHS coordinated mass distributions around the county to supply FREE baby diapers, wipes, formula and food for those in need. We have continued this project by providing these essentials to food pantries and other organizations supporting clients.
Holiday Help & More...
Every year we extend Holiday Help by collecting non-perishable food items for Thanksgiving and Christmas meal baskets and "stocking stuffer" items for our "Operation Stocking Stuffer" project which produces filled Christmas stockings (some are even handmade!) for young children and teens.
This past February 2021, we began a Valentine's Day project, which small gifts and cards were donated to survivors of abuse and domestic violence to spread compassion, friendship and love!
Our "Phoenix Letters" are cards, inspirational messages and quotes or beautiful drawings that can bring a recipient comfort, encouragement and hope. These "letters" are placed in our Care kits, sent to long-term care facilities and front-line workers during the peak of Covid-19 pandemic and incorporated into any other forms of donations given.
